
Durena Burns is an author currently residing in Southern California. She writes narrative nonfiction, African American fiction, historical fiction, contemporary, science fiction, suspense, mystery, essays, and even poetry. Having an active imagination since she was a small child, Burns has loved putting together that imagination through writing stories. Her book Call Me Whitehead is about her late great uncle’s experiences as a Black man during the Vietnam War through her perspective. Burns has also contributed her works to Writing Bloc’s Escape! and Family anthologies, the Northridge Review, and the Pomona Valley Review.
